Why are they used?
These are the "pins" in connectors and are sold separately from the housing as customers assemble the contacts & housing to form the complete connector.
Applications / How do you spot opportunities?
Most connector will have contacts inserted in the factory. But for wire to wire and wire to board application. Customers has to buy the contact and crimp themsleves before inserting into the housing. They wil need to buy the contacts.
