KEMET PHE448 pulse capacitors use a polypropylene film dielectric with aluminum foil and metallized film as electrodes. The KEMET PHE448 film capacitors are designed for high frequency and high voltage applications, requiring capacitors with extremely high current handling capability or high dU/dt values. The KEMET PHE448 metallized polypropylene (plastic) film capacitors feature very low losses and the lowest dielectric absorption of all film dielectric materials. KEMET PHE448 capacitors exhibit self healing characteristics that actually work if a conducting particle or voltage surge punctures the dielectric, an arc occurs at the point of failure, thus melting the surrounding metal and insulating the area of the breakdown.
