Total reported sales for all relay categories in North America for the second quarter of 2015 were 1% lower than the previous quarter and down 6% from that observed in the same quarter of 2014. Sales units for Q2 2015 ran 12 less than sold in Q1 and 15% less than Q2 of 2014.

The total booking dollars reported for all relay categories in North America for Q2 2015 came in more than the previous quarter by 5%, and down over 11% from Q2 2014s total bookings. The second quarter’s book-to-bill ratio for dollars was 0.942. Booking units in Q2 2015 were 3% above Q1. The second quarter’s book-to-bill ratio for units was 1.022.

In the second quarter of 2015 sales were down in dollars and units for EMRs while SSRs improved. ASPs were up for both. In total, dollars slipped 1% and units fell 12% while the ASP was 13% higher. When compared to the second quarter of last EMRs were down in dollars and units while SSRs improved again. ASPs were up for EMRs and down for SSRs. In total, dollars were down 6% and units 15% lower with an ASP 10% higher. Year to date SSR dollars and units were higher and EMRs lower. In total, dollars were down less than 3% and units up just over 8%. Total ASP was up about 6% on the strength of EMRs.

Booking dollars and units moved higher in Q2 compared to Q1 for EMRs and SSRs. In total booking dollars rose 5% and units moved up 3% with a 2% ABP increase. The comparison to Q2 of 2014 shows dollars and units down for EMRs and mixed for SSRs. All in, dollars fell by less than 12% with units 16% weaker. The ABP for SSRs rose 1% while EMRs improved 7% and the total was up 5%. Year to date SSR dollars units are up and EMRs down compared to 2014. In total, dollars are off 11%, units down 16%, and booking prices 7% higher.

The graph below shows total quarterly indexed sales and bookings in dollars and units for the reported data. Sales dollars and units started a slide in Q2 of 2013 and changed direction in the first quarter of the next year. This rise reversed at end of 2014 and continued down in 2015. In 2013 booking dollars and units fell until the last quarter, recovered further through Q2 of 2014. In Q3 of 2014 bookings fell sharply, hit two year lows in Q1 of this year, and recovered some in Q2.

The overall indexed selling prices have generally moved higher with dips occurring in the first quarter of each year. Indexed booking prices have also trended upward over the period with more fluctuation. The booking price has been below the selling price for all but one quarter of the period.

Book-to-bill dollars and units moved down in Q3 of 2013 then recovered some through Q2 of 2014, and dropped in Q3 of last year. The ratio of average booking to selling prices has generally moved lower until Q1 of last year when the trend changed upward. It then rose to hit 1.0 in Q3, fell in Q4, moved above 1.0 last quarter and fell back in Q2.
