Connector industry sales increased an astounding +14.3% year-over-year in 4Q17 to $15,731 million. This is the highest sales quarter on record for the industry (and the third record in a row). Sales for the full-year 2017 came in at a record $60,116 million, up +11.0% over 2016.
The following table shows industry sales by quarter for 2015, 2016 and 2017. 4Q17 sales were over $1,000 million better than our October forecast, up +14.3% versus +6.4%. This level of performance seemed unachievable at the beginning of 2017 and even at the end of the first half. The numbers can be seen in the following table.

- The worldwide growth was driven by the largest regions - China, Europe and North America. China grew 15.9% and now has a worldwide market share of almost 30%
- The fastest growing market sector was transportation which expanded almost 13% in 2017
- Automotive was still the largest market sector at over $14 billion in 2017
The semiconductor industry, closely aligned with the connector industry performance trends, grew 21.6% to over $412 billion in 2017.
