Typically we measure the top ten connector companies by total world sales. When annual sales are the unit of measure, the ten largest companies are as follows:

table-1

However, defining the top ten just by annual sales is misleading. The top ten companies change significantly if the definition of “top ten” changes. For example, who are the ten largest companies in China? Who are the ten largest companies serving the automotive market? Who are the ten largest companies that manufacturer RF connectors?

The answers to these questions are important if you are seeking the top connector suppliers in different geographic regions, end-use markets or products.

Top Ten by Region

When the top ten definition is geographic region, twenty-five (25) companies achieve top ten status. The following table identifies these companies.

You will note that only four companies achieved top ten status in all regions i.e., TE Connectivity, Molex, Amphenol and Yazaki. Delphi Connection Systems achieve top ten status in all regions except Japan.

Top Ten by Market Sector

When top ten is defined as the ten largest in each end-use equipment sector, thirty-six (36) companies achieve top ten status. These companies are identified in the following tables.

TE Connectivity achieved top ten status in all eleven market sectors. Molex was top ten in eight, Amphenol and Delphi in seven, and Foxconn, LuxShare, JAE, JST and 3M achieve top ten status in five market sectors.

Top Ten by Product

We classify products into twelve (12) major product categories or types. When the ten largest companies are defined by product type, forty-one (41) company names appear. These companies are identified in the following tables.

We now have 25 companies with geographic region in top ten status, 36 in market sectors and 41 in products. This is a larger top ten list, but we have just started identifying the largest connector providers. What if you need to find the largest provider of a specific connector in a specific country? The top ten list would definitely change if you were looking for Mil-DTL-38999 connectors in Germany, France or South Korea.
